Just after this March/April issue of Heart and Science hits the stands, BWH will host appraisers from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) for our Magnet site visit, March 26-29. A capstone of our pursuit of Magnet designation, a trusted symbol of excellence in patient care nationally and internationally, this visit is an amazing opportunity to showcase the work of our nurses and patient care staff – and every Brigham staff member – who each day, year in and year out, exemplify each of the hallmarks of Magnet: high-quality patient care; clinical excellence; innovations in professional practice; and interprofessional collaboration.

Examples of our amazing body of work are found throughout this issue of Heart & Science, including the extraordinary work of social workers in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and how our nurses collaborate within their units and across the hospital to drive innovations that enhance patient care. I hope you will enjoy discovering just why the Brigham is “Magnet ready”.

To the ANCC appraisers – we welcome you and are excited to share how our staff provides exceptional care by continually striving for improvement: to positively impact patient outcomes, to shape the best healthcare experiences for our patients and their families, and ultimately, to deliver world-class patient care and service—every day.

With warm regards,
