Accessing our New Interactive Patient Education Video System from PeC

Research shows that using videos to educate patients and families is an effective method of teaching. To that end, we are excited to introduce ExitCare OnScreen, our new interactive patient education video system. This system allows nurses to assign educational videos to patients from the computer. The videos are then available on the TV in the patient’s hospital room. As patients and families watch the videos, the Patient Report will display important information to the patient’s care team, including when the video was watched and the patient’s response to a question at the end of the video.

We are even more excited to report that nurses will be able to access this system from within PeC. From your patient’s PeC chart, click on the “More” button, find PHS Applications and select Patient Ed Videos. By clicking the star, you will mark this as a favorite, and it will be available for you to use with your patients in PeC.

The ExitCare OnScreen application replaces our Patient Edu system. If your unit had access to Patient Edu, then you can use the new system with your patients. Since video education is one of the tools nurses use to ensure patients are educated on their conditions prior to discharge, please take some time to familiarize yourself with the new application.
