The Endoscopy Center’s Magnet bulletin board illustrates how the center’s daily work aligns with the Magnet model.

Magnet designation recognizes and celebrates the incredible work that we do every day – for our patients, families, community and each other. It honors how we communicate, collaborate and innovate. It recognizes the entire organization for quality patient care, clinical excellence and innovations in professional practice. Magnet doesn’t require perfection, but rather striving to continually improve.

More than 241 clinical nurses have volunteered to be Magnet champions, serving as enthusiastic advocates of the program and sources of knowledge for colleagues in their units. They are familiar with our Magnet documentation and are available to answer questions about our journey.

When Magnet appraisers visit a health care facility, they visit every location where nursing is practiced. In preparation for our site visit, Magnet champions are developing Magnet bulletin boards to highlight the Magnet model and how the daily work of their respective units aligns with the model. These boards will showcase the unit’s quality improvement projects and its quality and safety outcomes. In addition, the boards will showcase how each unit’s practice makes a difference for our patients, families and our staff.

Update: BWH Magnet Journey

BWH submitted the requested additional documentation to the Magnet Program Office on Oct. 31. After Magnet appraisers complete their review, the Brigham will learn whether it has been selected for a site visit. The Magnet site visit would likely occur between mid-February and early March.
