A Hurricane of Activity

This year’s ANCC National Magnet Conference® in Orlando, Fla. was one for the record books! Coinciding with Hurricane Matthew’s descent on Central Florida, the conference was able to squeeze in only a few sessions before having to cut short this highly-anticipated gathering of more than 9,000 attendees from Magnet® institutions across the United States and beyond. Despite the windy reception, BWH conference attendees were able to soak up some of the Magnet excitement before navigating their premature (or, in some cases, delayed!) respective ways home.

The BWH Magnet Writers’ Group continues its own hurricane of activity as members of this group draft, edit and finalize the documents and sources of evidence to be submitted in support of our application for Magnet designation. A few more months of writing and revising lie ahead before our submission is sent off for review by Magnet Recognition Program® surveyors.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for additional information about opportunities to become more involved in BWH’s Magnet journey. With the document submission nearing completion, our energy will be directed to getting the word out and preparing for our anticipated site visit by Magnet surveyors next summer.

BWH has a well-earned and well-deserved reputation for excellent patient care and already fulfills many of the criteria and exemplifies many of the hallmarks of a Magnet designated hospital. Achieving Magnet designation will allow BWH to take its rightful place among industry peers and be publicly recognized for providing excellent patient care.
