Lorelei Dwyer

On Oct. 23, Lorelei Dwyer, MSN, AGPCNP-BC, a clinical nurse in the Neuroscience Intermediate Care Unit, was surprised with a special celebration as the Brigham’s first DAISY Award recipient.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program established in 1999 by the Barnes family to thank nurses at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance who provided compassionate care for their son, Patrick, before he passed away due to complications from an autoimmune disease. Since then, the DAISY Award has been implemented at more than 2,700 health care facilities in more than a dozen countries.

Each month, the DAISY Award committee will select an honoree from patient, family and staff nominations. Congratulations to the DAISY Award pilot nominees: Madeline Couch, MSN, BSN; Zinnia Feliciano, MS, AGCNS-BC, CNRN; Claudia McCarthy, RN; Kristen Reed, RN; and Kasey Ryan, RN.
